Microsoft to Delay End of Support for older versions of Windows 10 due to COVID-19.

Good old Microsoft has kindly been thinking of its poor customers affected by the COVID-19 lock-down. Kindly, they are giving their customers an additional six months of support for Older, End-of-life versions of Windows 10.

Microsoft said in a statement to their customer base:

“Microsoft has been deeply engaged with customers around the world who are impacted by the current public health situation. As a member of the global community, we want to contribute to reducing the stress our customers face right now.”

Microsoft

Microsoft had been planing to cut support for Windows 10 Version 1709 for IoT, Enterprise and Education today. They had also been planing to cut support to Version 1809 for Home and Pro versions of Windows 10, on May 12th. But due to COVID-19 has extended both End of Life dates by six months.

This means patches and security updates will continue to be issued for these older versions of Windows over the next six months. Microsoft hopes that this will help alleviate some stress on IT admin’s and remote workers, already under the pump because of COVID-19. This relaxation of End of Support, will help keep more PC’s secure during this pandemic.
